Australia’s tax and transfer systems do less to redistribute income than those in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

434 – The Boys
By the mid 1070’s, the House of Normandy was struggling and I’m not talking about William here, I’m talking about his lineage - because as busy as William had been in his cross-channel land grabs, he had still found time to have A LOT of kids. We haven’t mentioned them much yet, but by the 1070’s they were growing up, and they begin to appear in the record.
I'm really struggling with the absolute scope of this. But it's...vast. arstechnica.com/security/2023/12/just-about-every-windows-and-linux-device-vulnerable-to-new-logofail-firmware-attack/

About YouTube and ad-blockers:
YouTube is owned by Alphabet, aka Google's umbrella corporation. Google in turn was devoured by DoubleClick, the largest advertising company to come out of the 1990s web.
When you use Google, you are feeding the attention monster that is the advertising industry.
We should aim to criminalize behavioural advertising and break up the Google monopoly, not tolerate their shit and work around it by using adblockers.
Once libraries are nonexistent any modern fascist movement wouldn't even have to burn books, but flick one switch and they'd be remotely deleted from your Amazon Kindle or similar digital “library”.
Capitalists are already building the infrastructure to do this through DRM, so stop believing tech is apolitical - the defunding of libraries and paywalling of information are all part of this.
Governments and food manufacturers have a big role to play in reducing the salt content of Australians' diets.

❝ Capitalist society as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of evil. Private capital tends to become concentrated in few hands, partly because of competition among the capitalists, and partly because technological development and the increasing division of labor encourage the formation of larger units of production at the expense of smaller ones.
The result of these developments is an oligarchy of private capital, the enormous power of which cannot be effectively checked even by a democratically organized political society. This is true since the members of legislative bodies are selected by political parties, largely financed or otherwise influenced by private capitalists who, for all practical purposes, separate the electorate from the legislature. The consequence is that the representatives of the people do not in fact sufficiently protect the interests of the underprivileged sections of the population.
Moreover, under existing conditions, private capitalists inevitably control, directly or indirectly, the main sources of information (press, radio, education). It is thus extremely difficult, and indeed in most cases quite impossible, for the individual citizen to come to objective conclusions and to make intelligent use of his political rights. ❞

If I'm reading this correctly, Chrome will route your traffic through its own proxies—and a chosen third party, which you can't decide about. It'll be opt-in for now.
The amount of concerns that this introduces to both individuals and organizations is significant. What will it take before Chrome itself is labeled a PUP? Even with the best of intentions, the browser is taking more and more for Google, leaving less and less for the open web.
